Ministry isn't just a Sunday Service Special

"...Then Jesus said to Simon, 'Don't be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.'" - Luke 5:10
The above scripture is a perfect reminder that ministry is not just a Sunday service operation but a consistent practice. Jesus has just asked Simon and others to follow Him. He says to Simon, no longer will you catch fish, but men. I often forget that my job, my family, my friends, people who I've connected with throughout my lifetime are all my ministry. We sometimes treat sharing the word of God as this super bounded up thing that can only be shared on Sunday in a church full of believers. But God has called us to go out and share His gospel with others (Mark 16:15).
I've talked about seasons a lot previously and one of the things that is so important about the season God has called us to, is who he's called us to. I, personally, get so wrapped up in desiring to move to a different season or to a different place that I tend to neglect the very people that God has called me to. There are people counting on us. People that God has placed in our paths specifically to hear a word from us. There are people that God has called us to where we must show His love, pray for them or minister to them and if we are too focused on season hopping and not ministry, we miss them.
Everything in our lives is purposed. We are at a particular job, at this particular time, connected to these particular people, going to this particular church, hanging around these particular groups of friends for a reason. I love the fact that for a moment, when I'm dreading a certain place that I'm in and constantly complaining about it, God brings someone in my pathway to minister to or show His light and love too. Then I remember why I'm called to that place in this season, and a new strand of strength and endurance are instilled in me. I can continue in this place without that feeling of dread because He has reminded me of my purpose there. It's a wonderful feeling.
Let's pray that God reveals to us the purpose of our current season. Let's pray that God will begin to show us who we're assigned to and the role we're supposed to play in their lives. There are some people, I believe, that God has only called us to love on. There are others that God has called us to pray for/with and others that God has called us to minister to. I pray that God would show you who you're assigned to in this season. I pray that He will give you the wisdom and encourage you to minister, pray and love on them. I pray that God would show you the exact thing you should focus on, so that you can make the best out of your current season and He is glorified in the end.
